WHAT IS PUCKS FOR PURPOSE

Which campus faculty stands out as the absolute best? The answer to that question will be revealed on March 13th.

Pucks for Purpose isn't just another student organization; it's a dynamic, student-driven non-profit with a profound mission. Our primary objective is to make a meaningful contribution to the ongoing battle against cancer, and we've chosen to do so in a uniquely East Coast way – through the beloved sport of hockey!

Our passion is driven by the belief that we can make a difference in the lives of those who are facing, living with, and recovering from the challenges of cancer. To achieve this, we've crafted a special event, one that combines fierce on-ice rivalry and camaraderie, all for a great cause. This event is none other than the much-anticipated rivalry game between two StFX powerhouse teams.

Our mission goes beyond hockey and cancer. We're proud to announce that, in addition to supporting the fight against cancer, we will also be making a meaningful contribution to Motionball, an organization that's dedicated to promoting and supporting Special Olympics in our community. By participating in Pucks for Purpose, you're not only helping those affected by cancer but also making a positive impact on the lives of special olympic athletes in our community.

When you join us on March 13th, you're not just witnessing a game; you're participating in a movement that aims to provide support, hope, and a sense of unity to those whose lives have been touched by cancer and those who inspire us through their participation in the Special Olympics. Your presence, support, and enthusiasm are the driving forces behind our mission. We're excited to have you with us in this remarkable endeavor.

Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that StFX is in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
